Company History

Formed in 2003 as a partnership between two independent companies, A Promised Land Lawn Spraying provides pest and fertility services for lawns and ornamentals throughout Pinellas County, Florida – from the Pink Streets to Palm Harbor.

Service truckCurrently A Promised Land Lawn Spraying provides service to over 500 sites using a custom Isuzu NPR - complete with onboard computer and GPS.

Fertilizer and insecticide blends are designed for Pinellas County turf, soils and environmental conditions by Rick Orr, the owner and agronomist .

A Promised Land Lawn Spraying is licensed by the State of Florida and insured and exceeds all federal, state and local regulations for safety and environmental restriction. The owner is state certified to operate a pest control business for lawns and ornamentals. Yearly inspections are conducted by state officials to see that A Promised Land Lawn Spraying meets existing federal and state regulations.

What We Do

The philosophy is simple: Regular visits (6 per year) to keep the turf feed, the weeds discouraged and bugs away. You also recieve a detailed invoice shortly after the service, and “lawn coaching” to help you achieve the highest potential from your lawn.

About Rick Orr, Owner and Agronomist

Bolivia Mission Trip 2006I graduated in 1979 from Va Tech with a BS in Agronomy. I spent a majority of my studies on Turf Ecology and Horticulture. After college I accepted the position of Golf Course Superintendent at Fripp Island Golf Resort in South Carolina.

Throughout the 80’s I spent my time at various venues from cemeteries to landscape maintenance companies. I supervised work at a variety of properties in the Panhandle of Florida including Sandestin Beach Resort and Seaside, Fl , before moving to St Petersburg in 1995.

In St Petersburg, I worked with local nursery operations, a large landscape company in North Pinellas and the Vinoy Counrty Club to learn the plant palette and local environmental conditions. Then in 2002 developed a lawn spraying company and became sole owner in 2006.

Over the past 10 years I earned professional certification for Pest Control, Arboriculture, Irrigation Contracting and Landscape Contracting. Although I focus on lawn spraying, my knowledge of landscape components and relationships is deep.

My home is in St Petersburg and I attend Calvary Chapel of St Petersburg on a regular basis where I have been a part of mission trips to India, Nicaragua, Guatemala and Bolivia. I spend a lot of time with my teenage son working to restore and prepare our 1966 VW Bus for a coast to coast trip - from Va. Beach, Virginia to Redondo Beach, California.
